Transmission choice
I am new to the forums and am trying it out for the first time...but I have heard some really good things and look forward to being apart of it.
I have a 69 ss and am looking to switch from the 4-spd trans to a 5-spd. I was hoping to recieve some sort of feed back on which way to go.
motor: 427
Rear: 4:10

Sorry about my last post being too broad. I am looking to swap my M-22 for a TKO-600 (5-spd) I just want to know how much fabrication will be needed. I have heard that the shifter placement is a good fit for the factory console. However, I also have heard that the driveshaft needs to be shortened by about 2 in. is this fact or fiction?
I would also like to know if fabrication is needed, if the swap is worth the work? I do like my M-22 but not having an overdrive is really taking its toll when cruisin.

I installed a TKO in a customers 68 and it made a great improvement in the car. The shifter does fit the console but make sure when you order you tell them it is for a console car. The TKO comes standard with a centered shifter, you will need the offset shifter to move it rearward. I cannot recall if we shortened the driveshaft.
