Default Hotter spark plug gap with HEI?

My 1974 repair manual recommends a .035 spark plug gap for a 396 4bbl. This is of course with points ignition. I have heard of people opening up the gap once they went to HEI. I'm sure it couldnt hurt any but what gap should I set the plugs at? Nothing special performance wise with the motor.

They should be more than happy with an .045 gap.
