Holy Crap. This is embarrassing. Just last night I finally got the last part (that I lost for the 2nd time) and primed the motor. It is "now" ready to drop back into the car. Other than painting the inside of my house for the past 4 ficken weeks, I've been waiting on this for months now.
Well, I have this "last" weekend to get this car together before EVERY weekend from here until Winter comes along. Soooooo the under hood stuff is done (had to change a heater core and the outside housing didn't want to fit anymore) and painted some trim.
I need to get this puppy on the road. Only another 5? weeks until Good Guys in Pleasanton???? Probably the same week now that my grand daughter has a soccer tourney in Santa Cruz - which I need to tow the trailer so we all have some place to stay. HAAAAA
Keep tuned guys. You "may" finally see this thing in the sunshine.

Did you find out why you had no oil pressure? Replace cam bearings, cam, and lifters? Inspect inside of oil pump? 5 mins. is a LONG time with no oil pressure. Hone and replace rings?

Not really, but I think one of the oil galley plugs came loose on the gear drive side. Anyway, had the whole motor re-machined, new cam bearings, main & rod bearings, lifters, push rods, oil pump, rings, etc. Another $650 on top of the original costs.
Yeah, a total of maybe 5 mins in 3 separate starts. So it went down to step 1 again. But now it seems to be doing fine. We'll see hopefully this weekend once I can get it back in the car.

Ha, for sure. All my pics are on my phone, but hoping (bowling tonight, sheetrock work tomorrow) that sometime this weekend I drop this beast back into the car and get it dialed in. Need to run my AM gauges (wiring) somewhere else on the firewall - soooo close to the exhaust. Maybe I'll try and move it over a couple of inches on the tunnel and have it come out right behind the motor?
Anyway, thanks for all the help on this car so far. Looking to have a nice blast this Summer - even it I didn't get any AC installed just yet. =)

Default reusing gaskets

I have had to do this in the past because i was broke and needed to get my car running.
We rolled the dice on my sons car as we had to pull the intake and oil pan as I forgot the put the oil pump drive shaft and he was missing one of the ***** for the rocker and we couldn't find it.- we found it later in the car.Again, it was because he was rushing and i didn't make him slow down.
The intake was fine so we reused it but the oil pan was that crap cork and rubber ends, I had him pick up a one piece oil pan gasket and i have always been able to reuse those. they are worth every penny!
