gas gage problem

Default gas gage problem




my gas gage is not showing the correct amout of gas i have i have recently replaced the sending unit hoping that would fix it but the highest it will go when filled up is 1/4 of a tank, and ithas caused me to run out of gas a stop light a few times and its really starteing to **** me off, any idea what itis and how to fix it would be nice thanks.

Assuming you grounded the sending unit correctly, the problem is likely the gauge itself. There is a way to test the fuel gauge. Check your Chilton's manual or do a search on this site (and similar sites) and I'm sure you'll find how to test the fuel gauge.

it might be the small shunt resistor on the back side of the gauge if this is bad it would not allow the gauge to calibrate correctly.
