Default anyone with a comp thumpr cam in a 396
I was wondering if anyone is running a comp cams big ****** thumper cam in a 396 and if so how does it sound and perform I want to replace mine basically to get more lope but I dont want to loose any of my performance I have 10:5-1 comp, air gap intake ,750 holley d.p.,400 tranny with 3500 stall,headers,12 bolt rear with 4:11 gears but im not sure what cam I have in it now because I bought the car already set up. the car is very fast now I was told by the old owner that it has a L88 cam but everyone says that if it had that cam I wouldnt be complaining about the loping sound .ive red some good stuff on these cams but only on the comp cams web site and I had one person recomend it to me I would just like to get more feedback before I order it thanks LES

Ive heard that these thumper cam series sound great and are really good cam.I think you'd be happy with the change in sound and performance. I'd say do it.

i've got a 69 with a 396 & i wanted to run a thumper also, but i hate to have to pull a perfectly good running engine to put a cam in. i cant figure out how to get the oil pan off without pulling engine. someone siliconed the gasket to block and pan. I know i could drop it some to get timing cover off,but i dont know about resealing the old gasket. i would check your pan alsobefore starting this task.
