Front Segment Leaf Springs
Hi, I have 67 with multi-leaf rear springs, but they are of different types and its causing my car to sit higher by 1 inch on one side. I'm wanting to replace them and wondering if anyone has experience or opinions with front segment leaf springs like I see on SpeedWay Motors here. It seems like that design would provide a little more strength on the front half helping to reduce wheel hop, but not sure it really provides any added benefit over the normal balanced leaves with your standard leaf spring. Is this just to reduce overall weight of the spring, or does it actually provide a decent performance gain? Maybe adding a little traction bar type benefit?
Also can anyone share how much stiffer a spring with a nominal rate of 205 is compared to a 176? I assume you get a lot less rear squat with the 205 when stepping into it, but does it make normal driving too rough that its not worth it? I'm just looking for opinions as I have no way to test and compare and hoping this is a one time repair.
Thanks!
Steve
