Disk brakes
Hi Guys. My son just bought a 67 with factory non power front drums. A friend gave us a beautiful set of disk and calipers off a 74 Camaro. Can i use these and if i can what about spindles to mount the calipers? He’d also like to drop the front 2 inches, preferably with spindles not drop springs. My friend also has a set off his 69 Chevelle. Would those be easier? Not looking to up grade to after market either, just the simplest and cheapest to add front disk. Thanks

What size wheel is he planning on running? Keep in mind you want the master cylinder and the combination valve also. I believe the spindles are different 1st to 2nd gen do to the tie rod location. I think the Nova kept the same parts as the first gen camaro. Chevelle is a different much bigger animal. There are several different ways to do budget conversion and end up with brakes way better then a 2nd gen/Nova.
I am a little hesitant to help though. I forget to tell you one thing and your son is dead, Maybe a turn key kit with instructions is the way to go. I may have a link when I get how on a how to convert to a 4th gens brakes. Early 4th gen will fit 18" wheels later 4th gen are MUCH better but you will need at least a 16" wheel.

Thanks Gorn. I heard a lot of the kits are china garbage and I’m trying to avoid the high end stuff. And i haven’t forgotten about the master and proportioning valve. I might of found a set of spindles at ecklers and a caliper bracket.
If you haven't already found out, I'd say no, don't use them.
I think there is a difference in the spindle heights and that will cause you some alignment issues.
For the first gen Camaro's, you could use 67-72 Chevelle or 68-74 Nova, from what I read.
The kit I got, uses 67-72 Chevelle rotors and calipers.
I just installed a set of 2" drop spindles on my car, but be warn, do some reading on this first, you might be better off dropping things with springs.
The kit that I got, the parts were ok, but the company sent me the wrong bolt kit and trying to get the correct bolts was terrible. I ended up going out
and ordering the correct bolts.

Check out this link: https://www.classicperform.com/nova-camaro.htm#7
Scroll down to where you see mini disc kits, those are kits with the spindles, dust shields, hardware.
Contact them to make sure the rotors and calipers you got will work first.
Like I said the kit I got from them, says for replacement parts to use mid-size 67-72 Chevelle rotors and calipers.
