disc brake conversion

disc brake conversion
I'm probably asking a question that has been asked a thousand times. Please indulge me.
My 67 standard has manual drums. Manual is OK but like my 67 Mustang I would like to change them over to disc.
I have searched and searched and everything I find requires changing the spindles. Don't have to on the other car.
Is there a way to go without changing spindles? What if any issues are there? Can it be done with off the shelf parts from Napa instead of a kit?
Lastly, cost differences?
Thanks for your understanding.
Mel

There are el cheapo, keep your drum spindle conversion kits on ebay, such as this one: 14" Wheel GM Disc Brake System Zero Off Set 1967 Camaro 67 F Body | eBay
Personally though, I would do a complete spindle changeover. There are decent name brand spindle kits that start in the $500 range. Swapping spindles isn't difficult, just a little more time consuming. Take into account the condition of your current ball joints too, if they are worn, they'll want to be replaced which means you'll be removing the spindles anyway. I just finished replacing the ball joints on my 69 Vette resto project, not difficult, just takes some time. But then, this stuff isn't new to me. Are you trying to save money, save labor time, fit within a certain skill set, or all the above?

The summit kit looked pretty good.
I am planning to make my own kit to convert my 67 over to the late 4th gen brakes. The late 4th gen have dual piston aluminum calipers and upgraded rotors and pads are dirt cheap.
