Power Disc Brake Conversion
Hi there, just wanna figure out how much a whole power disc brake kit would cost? What do I need? Is this everything? http://cgi.ebay.ca/GM-Power-Disc-Bra...QQcmdZViewItem
I did alot of research, and unless you are building a concours restored car, I believe a brake system is the way to go. You may want to go to www.rightstuffdetailing.com and check their package brake systems out before you purchase. Right Stuff fabricates a large portion of the components that many suppliers are using these days. Just a thought.
Also, make sure youkeep your steering arms off your current spindles. I didn,t, and now I am trying to find a set.
Good luck

UNless you know the guy, or can get a warranty, I would be leary of buying brake kits off ebay. It is after all the brakes. If you were buying radio ***** that would be different. Here is what ricks has: http://www.rickscamaros.com/dept.asp...13&level=2

I assume by "whole power disc brake kit" you mean 4 wheel. I agree with cplthomas, the rickscamaro's is a good choice. I went with a big brake kit 12" in front and 11" in rear from Clasic Performance Parts for about $1200. This included all brake lines, fittings, rotors, pads. It did not include the splindles though, I already had those. So far everything has bolted right up, but the directions that came with it were worthless. Also to note I had to buy brake caliper paint and the mounting bolts.
The "Whole Power Disc Brake" kit I was reffering to was a drum - disc conversion kitsold by many of the vendors. Basically just a conversion for the front only. I haven't considered the rear disc.........yet. My main objective is to get this one on the road, and maybe make upgrades over the next few years.

You really only need to upgrade the front. Rear drums will do as most of the stopping power is from the front ones, the E-brake is the rears. I went with a front only conversion and if I feel like it I will get the rear one later.
Yes, all I am doing is converting my manual front drum brakes to Power disc brakes. Not doing the rear discs unless I need to down the road. Here is what i'm looking at purchasing very soon, sometme this week. But I want to go with some performance 14" rotors and 2 or 4 piston calipers, can I get the kit below without rotors and calipers? Where would I find some good slotted and drilled performance 14" rotors & calipers?

I had a disc conversion kit put on my car and am overall happy with it, I also had the brake fluid changed to a kind that will not draw moisture if the car sits for a while without being moved. Im guessing with the size your looking at you have larger wheels than stock, I ran into being told the conversion would work with the stock 14 inch wheels but that was not the case we had to grind a little meat off the caliper and buff the inside of the wheel, didnt need much it was barely rubbing when first installed. The other problem I had was the steel flared brake lines didnt match up just right to the reservoir so a guy down the road made up some new lines. I was glad I had mine done, nothing like the reassurance that when I want to stop its going to stop!
