I'm no expert on spring ratings, but 2X the factory rating will make it ride like a one ton truck. Just A comment...

It will improve your weight transfer and reduce wheel hop. It will also make it corner a lot better too. (ESPECIALLY with a larger sway bar with polyeurothane connections)

Absolutly- You can stand in the trunk, jump up and down- the only movement is from air pressure in the tires. The springs were ordered and installed years ago however this has been a long term restore. Now I would like to swap them out for either factory replacement or Hotchkis. The car is equiped with a 427/TH400/373 posi. The Hotchkis are advertised as a handling improvement- I am concerned that they may have excessive wheel hop over a factory 5 leaf.

Thanks for the reply- Are you referring to the after market progressive springs? BTW- your restore looks great.

I am running a big block- I had ordered the springs from a company that builds them, they should've been to factory BB specs- The car has been a project for years, I just found out the actual spring rate- I have replaced front and rear with Hotchkis. The other springs are now installed on my utility trailer.
