Default Subframe Removal

Almost done with a complete teardown of my 68 only have rear end, break lines and subframe to remove. I would like to remove the subframe and put aside for later dismantle and restore. I have limited room in my garage to remove the engine and transmission. Is it possible to keep the engine and the trans on the subframe and unbolt from the body. Can then wheel around and store for a while?

Yes you can .Just disconnect the driveline the fuels and such.Put the body on separate jack stands You can then separate the body and the subframe with the front wheels attached.I have seen people make separate carts for both to move around

Awesome...Thank you Was not planning on going this far with the dismantle, but if I'm at this point there is not much left to go for a full teardown. All original and in great condition. My dad passed it on to me years ago since he bought it in November of '67. I want it to last another 50 years for my kids.

Thought I would update my project. Removed subframe... all went great. Bolts came out without a problem and the dolly system I did made it easy to pull apart. Did all on my own, no lifting or back breaking work. All that is left is removal of rear end and I can put up on a lift and start cleaning. Thank you all... I'm learning a lot.

Very good. When assembling, smear antisieze on threads .
Make a journal of your journey as it will be invaluable later in life.

Been doing everything I've learned from going through this forum. Been a great help, so thanks to those who have given me input. Been doing pics, videos of everything(I mean everything from removing the glove box, fenders, wiper motor, gas tank, break lines, wire harness, steering column...you name it). Just like a youtube tutorial. I should post some of this stuff. Got parts list going, tool list, paint and chemical list for cleaning, general notes. Got every part labeled in bags, parts stored away in safe area. Ordered the assembly manual. Got plans to make one of those wood tilt up jigs too.

I'm very excited - Well sort of, since my father recently pass away. Anyway, he bough this car back in November 1967. I made a promise to restore it. All original, Sport Coupe w/ 327 - Rochester 2 barrel. I still have both original license plates, sales receipt, owners manual, protection plan and that metal protect O-Plate thing and a large collection of all the registration tags and auto maintenance receipts over the years. Been fun going through all the paper work and stuff.

Good work. I have a huge garage and I am always amazed as what people can do in a small garage.
Your Dad would be proud of the work you're going through.
