Looks like it's been a drag car,narrowed rear end?
Is it a real Z28 or just badged as one?
Looks prime for an LS swap to me,obviously far from original so a blank slate as far as drivetrain goes.
I could see a 6.0 truck block with a couple turbos and a built 4L80E 4 speed automatic. YeeHaw!
