So I just bought this new project and am looking forward to getting it painted this fall if I can ever stop driving it lol! By the VIN it is a 1967 SS 350 with the RS option,Muncie 4 speed, Deluxe interior, rear defroster, rear antenna, lighting kit,and it has a what I am told is a rare seat option. I have never seen these seats in a '67 before so I might just have them reupholstered. I am waiting for my 1/4 panels to get here from Ricks Camaro. Not the cheap ones but the panels from Ecklers that are made in Georgia by AMD I will be doing all the body and paint work in my shop. Not to worry.I have been in the autobody profession for over 40 years and had my own restoration business for 5 years a while back before going back as a manager so I know what I am doing. I have my own rotissery and I finally get to use it on my OWN car! I got to build some beautiful cars for other people only to watch them go home with their owners. Its my turn now! I am just looking for knowledge and suggestions from some of you who really know these cars. Here are some pictures of it as it sits right now, the previous owner did quite a bit of work already and replaced all the front sheet metal and gas tank. It has alot of work yet to go but this is just what I wanted, a running car that I can make look awesome! thanks for any input here.
Ok so I have done alot of work getting the mechanical bugs worked out on my R/S SS. I replaced the complete brake system, changed the wiring with a painless harness, got the oil leaks fixed on the engine, changed the seats and steering wheel and signal switch and horns working. Finally got the POS Holley carb dialed in so it doesn't flood out all the time! (what a pain that was!) but I have a few questions and was hoping someone has dealt with theses things before.
#1 I need to get headers that will clear my steering box, the stock manifold actually touches the box! and many say they will not work with manual trans. It is a tight fit in there on the left side. Manual trans,no A/C,350 small block.
#2 There are no markings on the carb other than Holley Performance to tell me what size it is. Only a few numbers stamped into the body of the carb. And what would be the best replacement for this carb or what is the best fuel injection system someone has used? It has a Weiand intake and a pretty lumpy cam but performance is still lackluster- my Lexus IS 350 V6 will kick its ***!
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
