68 camaro best value on ac system - adding ac system
engine 68 camaro
purchased 68 camaro 350 sb. recently. car overall restored. in good shape. all i know it is a 350 sb. not sure if block original or not. be nice if someone can point out what they see also. i get the headers and intake. block seems original but not sure.
want to install ac system.(it appears car did not come original with ac - just heater) saw a deal with eckler's for 1409 less 30%. vintage air gen iv. but not sure if this is the best value or issues with installing or product performance. or anything i should know. like who would the best decision to install (normal mechanic or speciality). the plan is to order the parts then find a installer who knows what they are doing. i know ecklers can give advice but prefer to start with with my own knowledge before i speak with tech. any guidance would be helpful to get me in the right direction. working on learning as much as i can about the car. any input would be helpful. thanks - much appreciated . Ed
I would simply start by decoding the VIN. From there, you can see what engine was originally in the vehicle from Chevy. After that, you can decode the block and see if they match.
As far as AC, Vintage Air seems to be the go-to for aftermarket equipment. I purchased mine a few years ago but haven't gotten around to installing it yet. The install is pretty simple and clean though. There are plenty of videos and guides to help you out if you can do any work on your own. -- At least hang the condenser and some other parts before paying for a full install.
