Default 67 kick panel issue.

I am in the process off gutting my 67 Camaro to send it out for mefia blast. My kick panels have the air vents that are extended into the side wall. Is there some trick to removal?

The factory used ( a lot !!! ) of putty to seal that vent. there isn't anything but the putty and the 4 screws holding it in. Be careful not to break the extension off. I put Vintage air in mine, but was hoping to leave the vent working, but wound up sealing it up and using the kick panels with the speakers included. I found that there wasn't enough clearance for the emergency break pedal to pass the speaker. I cut the pedal pad off and re-welded it closer to the inside. It is still close, but it works.
