X66 SS396 without Black back panel and hockey stripe
Im curious to know if there were ever any 1969 X66’s that came from the factory without the black back and rocker panels and without the hockey stripe. This link shows a picture of an X66. The hood is for an X66 but it doesn’t look like the back panel was ever black.

My grandfather gifted me an X66 that looks like it has always been a solid color, without a hockey stripe like the one pictured. I want to make sure we restore it to exactly what it looked like when it rolled out of Norwood.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the site.
Check this link out for some good information:
Camaro VIN, Cowl Tag, and other Numbers Decoding
According to this info, the X66 option had the blackened out tail panel, BUT I was reading some posts that people say they have seen some X66 cars without this.
It could also depend on the body color as stated in a footnote I saw for a GM chart on the X66 option.
I would get all your tag information and decode it to see what you can find out.
Good luck
