Hi, my 1967 RS Conv.
V8 has a wiring issue where it will just shut down, no power to anything. I can wiggle the wiring coming in at the fuse box and it will start. I have cleaned and lubed all the inputs but it is still happening. I know it's one wire, I just don't know which wire is the major hot wiring running the show.
Any input is really appreciated. I have had this problem for years, just dealing with it.
Thank,
Ronnie
Start at battery, red pigtail goes to a terminal block. From there red wire across rad support to horn relay buss bar.
You will find two red wires. One from battery, the other goes to firewall.
This wire to firewall, has a crimp joining a red wire from alternator BATT stud.
As you say, wiggle the red wire and everything runs.
You may want to disconnect battery and remove fuse panel and maybe clean, tighten, or install a jumper making it all work.
On my friends 67 vert same issue...his was because the bolt that holds the main firewall harness together was missing. It secures the firewall side of the connector to the inside (fuse block). Beyond what was suggested, check to see if that bolt is tight.
The connection between the two halves of bulkhead connector may have corrosion and need cleaning
