I have a 1968 SS that had a broken **** on the passenger side wiper transmission arm which prevented me from putting a wiper on the passenger side...so, I bought a replacement transmission arm. Problem is, I can not get it on properly so that it will turn without hitting the body (it won't make a full revolution).

I (thought) took great care to note how the old one, which worked, was on, but apparently didn't pay close enough attention. I have spent literally hours trying to get what I thought was an easy repair done, but still haven't managed to make it work.

I have measured and compared the two parts and they are identical, so I'm at a loss.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it hit the left side of the cowl panel by the drivers side? If so I had to bend mine a litttle so it would not hit. Just love "OER" parts.

 

No, it is on the passenger side. The passenger side end of the arm hits the bottom side of the cowl. It is the arm on the assembly that goes to the wiper motor that is causing all my headaches.

I can't figure it out, but believe it's going to end up being like you said, bend or adjust the part until it works...drives me crazy.
