67 conv i have a 396 block and 12 bolt w/3.55 gears
engine on paper has about 400 hp. its a 4 speed car.
came with out a trans.(and in a thousand pieces)sitting for 18 year,originally was a 327 4/s 10 bolt.

Are you asking what trans would have come with a SS big block? That would be a M21. Since you not number matching anyway you might want to put a 6 speed in there
Just a word of warning. A stock 375 HP 396 with a 4 speed and posi WITH a fat set of radials can twist the body of a rag top. The Camaro engineering team did NOT want BB rag top or Z28 rag tops but marketing did. They lost the argument on the BB and won the Z28 argument. At the time the old tires could generate enough torque to damage the unibody.

yes three pedals.
cutting floors out right now . true ? most 6 speeds i will have to tunnel work ? . really trying to get some input.not racing it . going to beat on it. building as a sleeper standard everything NO SS no RS clone. plain jane .

I wish I would have saved the link but someone sells a complete kit for the 6 speed. I seem to remember you did not have to cut the floor but this was a few years ago.
There are a lot of options 4, 5 or 6 speeds. The high torque of the big block says it got to be real tuff but if you are keeping the stock 12 bolt rear in its stock configuration any of the heaver manuals will be fine.
