Default Went and picked up my 69 camaro last night

The vin says it is a 6 banger 1233. But i know it has been sitting with that stuff on it for at least 20 years in dads barn and field, and 20 years before that it was sitting in another guys barn.

So is this just a plain jane camaro? Is there anything special about it? I bought it from dad for $4000 last night. I know he gave me a good price because i have craigslist dream shopped for
68s and 9s for a while.

I also get 2 new floor pans, all trim and chrome, bumpers, fender and a rear window. I am excited to start this project...but wife told me NO not till i finish my 66 galaxie. Dangit!

Its a plain Jane but it is a 69. The fact is a non-numbers matching plain Jane means you want have to listen to people complaining about you returning it to its original configuration. Nice thing about the 69 is it will be worth 10-20% more then the 67 or 68 in the same condition when it is done.

When ever I took my 67 RS/SS to cruises I would always get guys saying I should return it to all original. Like I didn't know it could be done but since they said it would change what I wanted.

IMO you should scrape the Ford and get that Camaro back on the road. Course I would walk by a fee Galaxie to get a good deal on a Camaro

Lol....thats just wrong! the galaxie is a nice old classic also! Love my galaxie (but just for the record, i am a chevy guy, always owned chevys, and that is my first ford i have ever owned)

But yeah, i guess you are right. I just want to make a nice driving, nice looking camaro so starting with a low end not sought after car is perfect! If it was something special i would feel obligated to go back original(ish).

Im thinking, gold or silver paint, small block (300ish hp), 4 speed, rallys, 3.73 L slip, add power disk to the front, add AC, that will be all i really want to do with it, and take off all the SS stuff so i dont have to hear THOSE guys. You know the ones i am speaking of, the ones that walk up and look over your car and the first thing out of their mouth is........."that not correct" or "thats not original".

When anyone asks i will just tell them "its just a base camaro that built out of spare parts!"

Question. Why is a 69 camaro worth more? It looks similar to the 68. Is it because they made less or are parts easier to get? Very curious!

The styling on the 69 is different. There are body lines that come from the wheel wells back, there is the shark gills on the quarters and nose has more of a point to it. The 67 and 68 are very similar, The 67 had wing windows in the door and the 68 does not the 68 has side markers. It is easy to get mix up a 67 and a 68 if it passing you but once you notice the 69 only details its pretty hard to forget. I do think the slight design changes are nice and they are one year only.

Random 69

Yeah...i see. I never noticed the differences untill now. I never saw them up side by side but i do see the differences. So the 69 is just more desirable because of the body design? I can see that.

Congrats on the new project. I think part of the desire of a 69 is that it was a one year only body style. Chevy made such a perfect Camaro for 69, they had to break the mold and end the 1st gen on a very high note. lol
The 69's huge popularity is also why GM used some of it's styling cues when they designed the 5th gen. In 2011, Chevy fans voted the 69 Camaro the best Chevy Ever, link above my signature pic.
