Water Pump Question
OK I feel stupid for having to ask this question, but I just can't figure it out. I have recently replaced the origional engine in my car with a new one that has a single plane intake. My old intake has 2 connections for the heater core hoses. The new one doesn't appear to have any. I am OK not having heat in the car as I do not drive the car in our winter climate, but do I just plug off the core hoses and the two ports on the water pump? Or do they make water pumps without the core connections? Any diagram or pictures would be helpful.
I don't have heat connected either, since it's a summer car. You can plug the holes on the pump and disconnect the hoses from the heater core. The holes have a pipe thread, and you can get pipe plugs from your hardware store. Allen plugs look cleaner than the square head type if you can get those. And don't forget the teflon tape on the threads.
there is only one hole in the intake for the heater core hose, the other one comes out of the waterpump. the second hole in each piece is for a bypass hose to keep a limited amount of coolant flowing all the time, and to work as a safety valve if your thermostat ever fails.
what is this new intake you have with no ports in it?
are you really willing to just leave your heater core sitting there with the hose connections just hanging out of the firewall with nothing connected? do you realize how hacked that is going to look? that is going to become a focalpoint under your hood, and make people start picking your entire car apart for things that you possibly took shortcuts on

I replaced origional engine with a 502. From what I see the intake has the thermostat hole, athreaded holefor the temp probe and 1 threaded hole for the water pump, but that still leaves me with a couple extra connections, probably the bypass.
