I don't want to be a hater but is that the correct SS hood vents? I thought thoughs did not show up until 68?

 

Well it does sound like they did some resto work on the car,maybe it needed a hood?
Quite a car though,the Nickey stuff is pretty rare,I posted in another thread about a '69 Nickey Nova a friend had in high school,same Lakewood Bellousing and M22 4 speed etc but the 427 was a single Holley double pumper.

 

Correct Gorn, those are 68-69 vents. The 67 was a finned style.
And there is a hole in this guys story too. He took the car into Nickey Chevrolets speed shop 6 months after getting the car? But the intake manifold is a late 1968 and 69 model. It's also a 400 h.p. intake, yet his display sign says the engine is a 435 h.p. The difference between the two is the intake runners on the heads and the ports on the manifold are larger on the 435. An equipped crate motor like that wouldn't have come as a cross-breed, the heads and intake were not mixed and matched.
His story is just that, a "story". Still a nice car though.

yeah there is no way the 67 had the stacks in it. the early 68 ss 350 cars had the fins untill they ran out then started putting the stacks in them.

Well he did mention that he took the car back to Nickey Chevrolet later for the stage 3 build, so maybe they changed the intake then, and maybe the hood too? Afterall, he is 73 yrs. old, and maybe doesn't remember everything the way it actually happened.
The part that just sounded strange to me was the whole thing about his dad wanting to buy a new car, and him talking him into buying a '67 Nickey Camaro. He was 31 he said, so his dad was probably in his 50's. Not exactly what you'd think a 50 yr. old would choose as a new car if he wasn't into hotrods; which it seems he wasn't since it was "a little too much car for him".
And he forgot about it, but in 1978 or 79 he was trying to document it to proove it was a real Nickey? Seems he didn't forget for long!
