Trying to locate 69 z/28 from my past
Hi all, I am trying to find out if my old 69 z/28 is still on the road, crushed or restored. I do not have the vin sadly. It was garnet red with black stripes, cowl hood and spoiler, black vinyl interior. It had chrome cragar ss wheels. The last known place it was at was Bensenville Illinois. I had an opportunity to buy it back with no engine and the owner had setup for a big block Chevy. Sadly he had taken out the metal framed dashboard and put aluminum in its place as he was setting up as a race car. I balked at buying with the dash removed and could have bought the shell for 500 bucks in the mid seventies . Any knowledge of this car would be appreciated!!
Seems like we get one of these posts about once a month lately.
Well good luck but finding it after that long with so little to go on is less chance than finding a needle in a haystack in a field of haystacks and getting struck by lightning at the same time.
I'd start by trying to find the guy you could have bought it back from and see if you can find out what he did with it.
Check with Camaro clubs where the car was last known to be and if you have a Facebook page check out the lost muscle cars page and post there.
Any pictures might help as well, good luck to you.
You might consider a tribute car by finding another '69 and restoring it back to what you had,I get the emotional attachment thing and regrets of selling but it'll be a lot easier in the long run.
There's a few cars trucks and motorcycles I wish I could find and get back but I've decided to just enjoy the memories and move on.

When you do find it
It will be 175K to buy it back
Are you prepared for that?
I sold my numbers matching 69 z and have not looked back since
I always said my dream Camaro has a 427 in it
True my z would do 60 in first gear with 3.73s
Building my dream Camaro now (found a 1969 427 motor)
Finding a 427 these days is like finding a Camaro
Now, finding a Z28 is just going to be that much harder
Took me 40 years but I finally found a correct boss motor for my old G code 69
You keep looking and saving
