Default 69 z/28 $$$

I think the price of a 69 z/28 in the past few years has gone to outrageous. Because if you ever see one at a carshow go over and look at it it looks basically the same as the regular next to it and any sbc can perform just as well as a numbers maching DZ coded 302 so shats the point in paying so much more for a car that isn't really much more than the regular only in price.

The point is that there were fewer made and thus command a higher price.

Why do any Collectors pay more for the real article? Whether it is Paintings, Coins, Cars or whatever, it's the real deal. Anyone can make a clone but it's not the genuine article. If You aren't a collector, You just won't understand, no matter how it gets explained to You.

You just feel like a bad *** when you have an all original car. Numbers that match from being that old and that rare. It definately gives you a great feeling.

You'r right but there are still thousands around that are original so they aren't fadeing away anymore. Sure there are lots of them still not original and rotting away but even they are high dollar cars. Maby you are happier knowing that you are driving a car worth more than the rest but you can get a regular to perform just as good or better than the numbers maching car. I do think that the z/28s and big block cars deserve to be numbers maching but what kills me is that so many of them are being babied at car shows and rarely taken out except for on the nicest days outside. I laugh at them because these cars were built to perform and race not to be babied just because it is original numbers maching.

Well it's what you pay for. If you want to go spend $100,000 and risk it getting in an accident, blowing the engine, or blowing the trans. Then it is no longer original. Another aspect of it is Insurance. Try inusring an all orignal numbers matching Camaro with full coverage comprehensive insurance. If you want a 69 Camaro, and want it to be a street machine, go build one up it'll be a lot cheaper. Yes cars were built to be raced but after a certain point the astetic value is more than the street wortyness value. Go buy a $100,000 car with your own money and drive it around. See what happens and see if you worry about it. If something is damaged then the value goes down. It's just like any other car if it's in an accident the value goes down.
