Hey all, I'm stuffing a 454 crank in an uncut 396 block, bored to 4.125 with H-beam forged 6.135" rods and I'm seeing these pop ups eclipsing the deck exactly the dome cc. I'm hoping to put 94.3cc 1966 Corvette closed chamber heads on it. Am I into my chamber too much or what? Of course I'm going to do a clearance check but was done for the night and thought I'd put it out there if anyone had experien e in this Frankenstein deal I'm delving into???...Lol

If you are asking what I think you are asking I used silly putty. You will need a something equal to the head gasket and assemble the engine with the silly putty in the cylinder. Have you determined your minimum valve clearance? It can vary due to application. An engine like a circle track car or a burn out car are going to need more clearance. A street motor can have less or even stock clearance. I did not watch the whole video I am not sure he got into it.

I used to use .100 in our stroker SBC. That was running 6400-6800 for up to 10 minutes, I found that spec in a circle track magazine article.

Thanks brother! Yeah, I'm off to find silly putty and a syringe to do some cals. I've got comp cams light valve spring and adjustable push rod. It'll probably be OK but it sure looks like a high compression ratio...lol.
I plan on running racing gas anyway I just don't want any clearance issues. I've heard that ten thousands is the minimum. Thanks for your reply. Jeff

 

I'm running 13.7:1 pistons and the thing I need to watch out for is the piston closing off the spark plug. I'm not saying you'll have this, but you maybe want to check and make sure. The builder used index washers on my plugs just to be sure.
