I’m posting this for my best friend who won’t get in the Internet. He is building a 1967 Rs ss with a drat big block 540 with a F1 procharger. Hp should be around 1000. He is looking for a muffler that will hold up to the big engine. Before the procharger it would blow up the current mufflers under hard driving. He wants to keep it quiet as possible. I thinking he will have to go with some kind of race muffler. Just looking for some suggestions. I’ll post some pictures when it gets back from the frame shop. Thanks.

Yeah something straight thru and with a large diameter.
Big tube headers with big diameter collectors and a big exhaust system behind it and something like these.
It's going to be pretty tough to make a blown big inch big block quiet without restricting power, maybe some resonators at the tail pipes after the mufflers will tone it down a bit. The other option of course will be some cutouts you can switch on or off from inside the car.

I bet that's pretty loud isn't it? I have a GMMG chambered system on my '01 LS1 with long tubes and an off road (no cats) y-pipe, it barks! Not near 3 1/2" either,2 1/4" I think. Bet it sounds cool on yours.
