Somewhat OT 1968 Firebird
Not sure where to go to get an answer on this topic, but hope maybe someone here might have some input.
A friend of mine has a 1968 Firebird that is sitting in his barn. I went out to look at a 1934 Dodge sedan he also had there, and ended up letting my other friend purchase the Dodge, but I got interested in the Firebird. Never been a Pontiac guy, but asked my friend what the deal was on it. I guess he purchased the 40 acres with the barn, and the two cars all together. He's not interested in the cars, so they were both for sale.
This brings up my question; what are the 1968 Firebirds going for, compared to the same year Camaros? The car was supposedly driven there, but hasn't run in 10 yrs., and it's fairly straight, but sure no creampuff. The trunk has rust issues, but there's a pan from another Bird with it. Also has a extra complete front end clip, although the frontend sheetmetal looks complete and good. The engine is there, but not sure if it's a 326, 350, or 400. The seller wants $1500 for all, and it sounds like a no brainer, but I'd probably want to convert it to a Chev V8, if that wasn't too big a No-No!
Need another project like a hole in the head, but the '71 Camaro is almost done, and I'm thinking I'll get bored.

So what's another hole in the head? Better ventilation anyway! I would grab it, it's definitely worth it. Even the extra front clip is worth almost that much, if it's solid! To a Pontiac person, it's worth every bit as a Camaro. Go to a car show and count how many first gen Camaros you see, then count the Birds....not too many. There aren't a ton of them around, compared to the Camaro. Not by me anyway. If it has the original engine, you might want to keep it, either in the car or in the garage if you plan on putting in one of those "Chevy" things!
Thanks for the great advice. I think I'll go take another look at it, and figure out where to make room for it. Maybe I can talk my son in law into going in on it and make it a project for him to start!
