Talking Seat Restoration Help

Hi everyone. I need some suggestions on a good, reliable, high-quality shop that specializes in restoring original camaro seats. My 68 Camaro SS Convertible seats need some serious help. They need rust removed from frames and new cusions and covers. Thanks in advance!

Well it's not that hard of a task to accomplish yourself. I did mine. The only thig we had done by someone else was to have a few spots on the frames welded by the guy who restored my car. Seat covers are available from allot of different places. Your local upholstery fabric shop will have the padding you need. A few bags of hog rings and plyers from NPD and your all set

Start on this page of my project thread and you will see what I did from tear down to finished seats.

Default Auto Upholstery & Seat Restoration Update

Hi everyone! I just wanted to update my original post. After doing some searching in Indianapolis, IN and beyond, I decided to take my seats, 2 front buckets and the back seat (2 pieces) to Kent Auto Upholstery in Beech Grove Indiana. I can't tell you how happy I have been with the service and the quality of work I have seen. My seats are almost done and when they are I will post photos of before/after.

Kent Auto Upholstery also does interior upholstery work as well as convertible top replacement. I plan on taking my 68 SS Convertible to them as well! Very good people and very experienced.

I've redone seats before, and one thing that's very important to do without a doubt, is to replace the seat foam with new repro foam. Your old stuff is not only squished down and no longer cushy, but it's mis-shapen as well along with the old covers. New covers won't fit or look right on old foam. Being you went to what sounds like a good upholstery shop, they should hopefully be doing it up right.
