Default Rusted Gas Tank Problem

I have a 68 camaro l-6, the gas tank rusted out and we ran the car a couple times with the rust mixed into the gas, what should i do to clean out the residue in the motor?

IF you have any residue, it would be in the carburetor. The strainer sock at the bottom of the tank, connected to the sending unit, will keep out the big chunks unless there's a hole in it. And the fuel filter will strain out the small stuff. Anything else that may have gotten by would be smaller than the microns of your filter element. I take it you're replacing the rusty tank? Then replace the fuel filter too. Do you have an inline filter, or one in the inlet of the carb (if it's a Quadrajet)?
