my 68 rear end "squats" really bad under hard excelleration(396-375 horse)...is this normal,or are the springs worn out?

Your leaf springs are wrapping up from the torque. If you plan on doing some romping and stomping with your car (my guess is probably), then some decent spring plate mounted traction bars will help greatly. Don't waste your time with the "clamp to the leaf spring" ones.

 

you wouldnt put new springs in it?(in addition to the trac bars)...the springs arent that pricey...and would you go with mono or multiple leaf?

Is the back of your car sagging now? It doesn't appear to be by looking at the picture. Were the springs replaced by the guy who "restored" your car? It's up to whether you want to replace them. But if they are the originals, and you're going to have the axle unbolted from them anyway, it might not be a bad idea to replace them. Springs only last so long until they break.

if you really don't know how old your springs are, and you are having doubts.... they are cheap money to replace.

as far as mono or multi, it depends on what you are looking to do. most likely you are going to want multi

 

the car seems to be sagging in the rear(more so on passenger side...hope frame aint warped..im getting that checked out this week) ...the front end is way higher...i want to lower it(front end)a little bit...and put different wheels/tires(but front tires rub like hell now)...i prolly need some direction on wheel/tire combos...thinking about 16 or 17's...but i dont know what backspacing to get....

now you make me think differently. I am trying to see your car in the avatar and since you said it, I "possibly see" your front end sitting high. without knowing anything about your car, there are so many possibilities.

is your car an A/C car? if it's not sometimes people want a stiffer spring, so they will put a "heavy duty" spring in their car, when in reality all that is most of the time, is a spring that was meant for an A/C car. the could possibly make your car sit ever so slightly higher in the front.

when going to a 16" or 17" rim, 4 1/2" of backspacing is a good starting point on an 8" wide rim

 

no...not an ac car...i found a complete front/rear spring replacement "upgrade"...its a hotchkis "tvs"....1200 bucks...is that too much to pay?...i'll install it myself,so no "labor" to pay...anybody had experience with that company?....it lowers the front end 2"...and the rear 1.5" from stock...dont know if i want to lower the car that much...

I would put a stock set of multi-leaf springs in with polyurethane bushings in the back. That should tighten it up fairly good without spending a fortune.
