Hmm... I am sorry that I can't be much help... Did you check to make sure your throttle valve is free and moves smoothly? Are there any parts that will not move easily? Is the Carb float free/ operating normally? Did you try carb cleaner? That's all I gots... Good luck and stay safe over there inIraq...

RE: problem with throddle rod and holly 750
Greetings from Iraq! First off i'm sorry about miss spelling thottle i can't believe i did that.
The carburator worked flawlessly beforeI hooked the rod to it. I'm running double springs and i've tried several combinations firstI had them going from the bottom of the carb to the back of the valve cover. ThenI ran them from the top of the carb to the front of the valve cover. Last I bought a bracket that screwed on to the carb ran in front of the carb and used 2 springs... and after all of thisI thinkI might know what was causing all of this... a nut being to tight.
I believe that the piece that attached the thottle rod to the carb linkage was tightened to much. This didn't allow theconnecting piece to rotateas the rod pulled the carb linkage back. So as i was pulling it back it either wouldnt rotate or the piece gave allowing the rod to pull the cabo linkage back then stuck in WOT... now im not sure if this was it or not as the car is several thousand miles away, but im confident about it.

glad to see that you think you figured out your problem.
although there should be a fitting on the end of your rod (hehee.. I said rod) that stops you from being able to overtighten anything. mine has two teflon washers on eachside of it and it is only held on with a cotter pin so nothing can bind up
