Default Power brake booster upgrade?

I am working on my front subframe resto and need to order a disk brake upgrade kit today. Is upgrading to "power brakes" as simple as ordering the kit that comes with a booster, and then finding a vacuum feed line to hook up to? My 67 currently does not have booster. It is a small block with standard valve covers, so clearance should not be a problem. Is the power booster kit worth the trouble or just stick with the original setup? It will be a weekend driver and not going to the track. I just want to enjoy driving it.
THX!!

As stated above, if this is a driver you will be glad you made the change to power discs. Check the link above to a complete changeover kit our shop sells for $535 shipped. Everything needed to convert to power disc. Good luck with your project.............Toni www.hrracecar.com

I am reviewing my options on adding the vacuum assist and would like to know what parts have to be changed out. Such as the master cylinder. Do you have to get a specifically designed master cylinder to mate with the vacuum canister? For example, I read that you must use a deep well master cylinder if you don't have vacuum assist. Can you use the deep well with the vacuum assist? Will it fit under the hood?

Any help is appreciated,
Joseph

The biggest difference is that the piston diameter inside the master cylinder is different between the two. The manual mc must make more pressure without any assistance from the booster..Do you currently have manual disc brakes?..............Toni www.hrracecar.com

Wow... I thought that I had done all my research and asked all the right questions. Always more too it than one might think!

Yes, I currently have manual drum brakes that appear never to have been touched. They are off the car now and I am working on rebuilding the front suspension. It looks like the conversion kits come with booster and piston, and matching master cylinder. What else do I need to consider?

I think that should be most of it. The power booster push rod will attach to your brake pedal arm in the lower hole. If you look under your dash at your current push rod there will be a mounting hole about an inch lower. Sometimes they have a plug in them. With the booster you will not need as much leverage to push the brakes so you use the lower mounting hole. Hope this helps...........Toni www.hrracecar.com

Check out this site. http://www.getdiscbrakes.com/rightstuff/Default.aspx Complete upgrade kits with no guess work. I have installed 3 of them on Camaros and Chevelles.

I have a used booster in real good shape that I'd be willing to sell cheap. I bought it brand new for my 69. I had it on there for about 3 or 4 summers before I went to a mini booster

Go with the power disc brakes. Also I would replace all the brake lines............
