Some people still think that a Posi (short for Chevolets Positraction) is different then a LIMITED SLIP. So when they make that statement it only shows how DUMB they are.

Default carbon fiber clutches for Eaton Posi

As was listed earlier Positraction is GM's nickname for a limited slip clutch type differential. It is not a locker type differential like the Detroit Locker.

The nickname got shortened to Posi and was applied to many other differentials over the years by car guys and has become a slang term for all limited slip type differentials.

Eaton makes a set of carbon fiber clutches for the posi carrier they built for GM, combine them with some heavy pre-load springs and the posi can take a ton of abuse.

Default detroit lockers

Are generally found in ford, & mopar rears. The locker does use clutches but the trick to them is the spider gears are mounted on a pin with a V notch that allows it to move when power is applied, pushing against the clutch pack, hence the "locker"designation. Then theres the chrysler "suregrip" that's found in the 8.75 rears, function is similar to the Eaton. If you ask me, if you're building a stout drivetrain to put in front of it the best rear is a Dana 60. The thing most don't know is that the 9" ford diff is designed with the pinion located differently than others, causing them to lose a lot of torque to the axles. A 4.56 gear in a 12 bolt or Dana is more efficient than the 9" the torque loss makes the 9" seem tougher than the others, but it really isn't.

Default Detroit Tru-Trac

Well, when in doubt, head to the people who actually design and manufacture these beasts for an actual education. When I was a young lad in the ‘60’s people who knew what 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 meant, also knew who Eaton was. Not sure whether that’s still true. Here is a good source of education on the subject:

https://www.eaton.com/content/dam/ea...ers-manual.pdf

The Detroit Tru-trac is an advanced design that no longer uses clutches, but has moved on to a more modern solution, that eliminates clutches drying out when not used often, and also eliminates having to use special oil in the differential. Eaton claims increased bias, over their original design as well. Bias is their term for torque transfer to the wheel with the most traction. Here is the way we went with my 12-bolt. The new Ring and Pinion are from Sierra Gears, and are their Premium polished version:

I am embarrassed. My bad for posting so late at night. I usually check but just glanced and some part of my tired self thought "Join Date" rather than "Post Date". My bad. We all know the road that is paved with good intentions...

I guess this just illustrates the timelessness of some discussions when it comes to 1st gen Camaros.

I'm still content that I went with Eaton's Detroit TrueTrac. Now I wonder what the original poster ended up with...

No harm no foul and the post before yours was yesterday so that one brought it back from the depths of CF.
