Default Oil filter adapter

I'm working on a 67 Camaro 327. The previous owner installed a external oil filter. Now the lines are old and fittings are leaking. So I thought I would just remove the adapter and screw in a regular oil filter. So much for thinking. The filter will not spin on. What do I need to do to be able to use a screw on filter? The motor is a 1964 327.
Thanks

Default

So I got a new housing from Napa but since there is no bolt holes in the by-pass valve thats in there I assume I have to replace that. How do I take this out? Does it spin out or is it pressed in? Here is apicture of what is in there.
