Default New Member, looking for project

Hey everyone, I know you have probably heard this 100 times but I am a new member to the forum and like everyone and there cousin apparently, I am in search of a 1969 project car. I am in college for Automotive Restoration and I have been looking for a 69 since I was 15 (21 now) and have not found much on Craigslist, eBay, AutoTrader, etc... I have search local car shows both around my college and around my hometown but haven't found much. I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction or if a member on here had a project they are looking to get out of or what have you. I have no fear of doing major work. Fabrication, metal work, major rust repair. I just do not have such a large budget as others may have on this forum or elsewhere. I have looked and found many project cars that have new sheet-metal on them and are nothing more than 307 cars with PowerGlide's and the ads are still asking $16,000 for a shell in primer. That is way out of my price range for what the car would need. Anyways thanks for looking at my first post that will probably sound like a million other posts on here, just a young guy hoping to snag a plain Jane to call his own!

If your having that much trouble finding a 69 for a resonable price, you might try picking up a 67/8 to start on. None of them are going to be cheap for sure. Not knowing your skill set I would highly recommend that you buy the nicest running and driving example you can afford. Sure it's great to work on a shell and replace everything...but that is why so many people sell their projects. Lose interest, money, to big of a job..etc. if you have a driver you will be MUCH happier and you can do projects then drive it! I'm speaking from experience. I have a 65 mustang that I am replacing everything! Haven't driven it in years and it sucks. I also have a 68 camaro convertable that I keep running yet still upgrade every year. But I enjoy it. I hope this helps some and good luck finding a cool ride!

So you are looking for a budget friendly 69 Camaro? You and about 250,000 other guys. Keep in mind they only made 243,000 of them. I believe the days of budget friendly 69 Camaros went away about 13 years ago.

The only first gen F bodies you can find reasonable is the Firebirds. You can find a decent drivable 67-69 Firebird for less then what a 69 shell will cost. Go check out some pics of the First gen Trans am clones. Now you can buy the repoped TA hood you can build a nice looking car.

Example
1968 Pontiac Firebird

Also keep in mind if you make a car like the above into a safe to drive rat rod you could turn a bit of a profit and trade up down the road. If you just wait for a good deal on a 69 Camaro you are going to have a lot of unhappy years in front of you.

Edit: If I didn't already have 5 vehicle's I would offer him 3K for the above car. I think it would make an great ratter.
