I just purchased a 69 x44 car, for 8000.00. I am wondering what you think of the price, and the car I will post pics. The history of the car is as such. I have known the owner for over 15yrs and he has owned the car since he was 15, 1978. His dad bought it for him as a gift. It has been stored in his garage since 1990 and hasnt been started since 1995. The car is solid 350, turbo350, disc brakes. I will post pics as soon as I can.
X-44 is a base model exterior trim, thats not to say a base model car. The x code indicates it could be a RS/SS, SS or Z28. The price sounds like a steal, unless there is major work to be done, either way it is a good price.
P.S. welcome to the forums, enjoy your stay.

Just got back, the car is still in my friends garage. Its got a heart beat, I rebuilt the 650 holley and changed the battery and fluids. And it wanted to fire right away, took about 5 minutes of jerkin around and then it poped and ran on bad 12 year old gas.
Ordered new tires old ones were dead, got bfg ta's 225/70/14 and 245/60/14 on origanal rallies. The cowl tag has a 69 paint code but the car is hugger orange. I have been over every inch of this car decoding and looking for evidence of this car ever being silver. Does anyone have a good place to look that might give me a clue. This car has been hugger orange for as long as my friend has owned it.
The only rust on the car is bubeling on the rear fender wellsand a religious trunk pan. very minor body work. Of course I will go through every area to make sure its safe.

No I still have a very good friend. For years I wanted first rights on this car and he gave it to me and he set the price. The situation sucked how it came about though. His father gave him the car and He wanted to help out his dad who just ran into some crap luck, so he sold it and gave him the money to help his papy out. Know just found out yesterday His dad was found dead in his bead after not showing up a few places. If he asks to buy it back I would of course sell it back, but I dont think he will ask. I have offered repeadedly but we will let time heal and see where is in a couple weeks. Life is short so live it up.
I will post pics tommorrow. I didnt really know if 8000.00 was a good deal or not he said it was, because of the circumstance said ok I would have given him the 8000.00 if he would have asked car or not. Thats just what friends due.
Has any one heard of the cowl tag being wrong?

I posted some links in this thread. You might be able to find some info there. What does the cowl tag have on it. A picture of it would help.

I have decoded everything on the cowl tag, and it is in order all is there. My question is have any documentation of cowl tag info such as the paint code being wrong. My friend never painted the car and way back in the mid 70"s would any one repaint to a different color, when camaros where common place. The car has not been wrecked or in a accident, at least no evidence of it no over spray etc. I guess anything is possible.
I think next time I get over there I will take the rear seat out and look for the build sheet. Hopfully its still there. How does the seat come out? Dont want to tear anything up.
