New to the forum and forums in general. Doing a frame off on my 69 SS (350) RS convertible.

I am looking for an original A M radio and it seems I have to make 10 posts to search classifieds so I will tell my car's story. If there is a better way or place to do this please advise (again, I am new to the forum thing).

I bought the car from the original owner in 1981. The original owner was the mother of a friend I met in middle school, so I have known the car since about '77.

Imagine if your mother drove you to school in this! The car is garnet red, black top and black interior with factory a/c. The car is all original, motor (still has original pistons), trans, a/c compressor.

Oh...it has the six pack hood too. However, when I got it, it had steel wheels (for discs) and 69 camaro correct hub caps. My dad knew the owner of the dealership that sold the car so I went to ask him why they would order a car like this with caps.

The dealership was Cunningham Chevrolet in Hartsville Tn which had long since closed. When I asked Mr. Cunningham about it, he laughed and said that they were into drag racing really big back then and the rally's held up better than the steel wheels, so they just swapped them out when they needed a set.

That was in 1981. Last year I picked up a special Camaro edition magizine and right there in the middle of story on the ZL-1's was a picture of a 69 camaro coming off the line with the front wheels off the ground (rally's) and "Cunningham Chevrolet" painted across the door!

I couldn't stand the caps, so I put a set of 15 x 7 rally's on it. I know 14 x 7 is correct, but I was on a college budget...still have the originals. I had totaled a freshly restored 69 hardtop that had the deluxe interior, so it was swapped for the standard when fresh paint was applied. It was such a quick and dirty job that the emblems weren't even removed.

Luckily, I didn't have any money to do anything to the motor more than rings, bearings, cam and lifters...so as I said earlier mine still has the original major internals; pistons, rods, crank.

I had a great time with it in college and drove it regularly until my first child was born in 1990. With each successive year (and child) it was driven less and less. Along the way, I got tired of replacing points just to drive it, so in went a GM HEI.
