Default Need shock recommendations

My girlfriend has a 69 SS 396(her husband had it for 20 yrs and passed away a couple years ago). She noticed the rear driver's side tire was rubbing, and when I put air in the air shocks it sits a good 2-3 inches lower on the drivers side, and looks as though the tire will still rub. I'm assuming the left shock is toast and am thinking of replacing the shocks. I would like some input as to what to get... It will always be a Sunday driver, so a nice ride for just cruising is what I'm looking for. Air or gas, brands, price, etc. input would be appreciated! Thanks!

If the car requires air shocks to keep the tires from rubbing, which is what it sounds like, then you'll need to replace them with new air shocks unless you plan on altering the suspension. Gas shocks do nothing to jack the car up. My car rides like a truck, and I've been seriously considering softening up the rear leaf springs and adding air shocks. Kind of like a poor man's air-ride! But before I do that, I'm going to add a frame mounted shock mount bar to take the stress off the stock upper shock trunk floor mounts.

If it's stock, just go down to Autozone and throw a set of aftermarket gas shocks on there. You wont have to worry about air psi or leaks, etc..... They are cheap, especially for a Sunday driver.
