Default Need info about '68 SS convertible.

friend of mine has a '68 camaro convertible with SS option in triple black.

he claims there were only 4, that's correct, four, ever made.

just to be clear, only 4 conv. in SS as opposed to the RS option.

how possible is this?

thanx in advance,
TB

I doubt it very much as they made close to 200,000 camaro's --I am not close to my book or i would quote the exact number--if i remember like 3500 verts too!!

Don't need a book for total production numbers, we have that info right here: https://camaroforums.com/forum/camar...-2002-a-70715/
For the 1968 breakdown: 16,927 total (US) V8 convertibles were built, 3,513 6 cylinder convertibles. The SS was available to be ordered as a convertible, and certainly was.
You decide whether your friend is blowing smoke up your backside. I already know the answer to that one. http://www.camaros.org/pdf/options.pdf

Heck I think we have at leased (4) 68 SS rag tops on this sight alone. There must be 1000's out there.

RS/SS combinations are more rare then just the SS.

Even still, there is NO database that tells what option combinations were built. So how would your friend know there were only 4 like his made? Exactly.

Well the search of Google images for Black 1968 SS Camaro convertible sure get a TON of pics of triple black cars. Im might have been rare in 68 but it aint now

Seem like the only color more popular is red.

You sure those pics aren't all of the same one, or should I say all four?

Well if it is the same 4 cars they sure have a lot of those magnetic strip kits and a lot of sets or rims.
