Default SLP SS and 87' Z28 Convertible

Ok, this is ganna be along one. Sorry in advanced for spelling/grammer mistakes just bear with me. Ok in 1993 a year afterI was bornmy dad bought a 1987 Z28 20th Aniversairy Commemritive Edition Camaro from his good friend for only $2500. Ok we still have the car but its not the original color sadley . Its bright red now and it was firemist red when we bought it. Now me and my dad are taking it apart and trying to restore it. We want to stuff a big moter in it but we want it to be original so its worth more. But I have gone to various forums and asked how many of these things were made and some people tell me it dosent exsist some tell me thousands were made but the majority of people tell me that only a handful were made. So I am thinking this car is worth alot of money and I just wanted to make sure with you guys (since I'm sure your alot smarter ). But its a very nice car and the only thing we want to change in it is to put positive tracktion on it so we can make real black marks haha. Well about a week ago my dads other good friend Gary bought a 97' 6speed SS LT1 Hendrix Edition Camaro. Now this Camaro is bad ***, 330HP! But anyway he had to take it to a shop to let a guy fix a blow head gasket (when my dad could have done it for free) but anyway he took it there and waited for like a week and got it back. When he was leaving the place the car was running good. He stoped at the stoplight, and his friend was driving Gary's truck behind him, well he nailed it and when he slamed it in to second the car just died well this is the bad parthis friendbehind him in a big *** jacked up truck dident see any brake lights so he dident know the car was slowing down. Well he hit it. Now hes all mad but he still manage to drive it to me and my dads house. We saw the back of the Camaro it wasent that bad everything is fixible but the moter was compleatly blown because the fagget that worked on it was drunk or something and dident know what he was doing so he ****ed it up. Well Gary's asked my dad if he wanted to buy it and my dad was like ummm uhh and Gary's said I'll ask you tommorw well eveidently he asked him wile I was at school and when he picked me up from school he told me the Camaro was mine. But its ganna need alot of work. But my dads friends owns a body shop and we know a guy who can praticly fix anything so that wolt be a problem. We know a guy who can rebuild the engin because he used to make drag racing engins for top fuel drag cars. Well I still don't know how much this car is worth. My dad said he was reading ina magizine that there was only 87 of them made (LT1's) but he said the LT4's were more rare. Not sure but my dad only gave $4000 for it. Can you guys tell me how much its worth. And I just wanted to share my story with you. By the way I'm only 15. So don't critizize me. Thanks for readin all that *whips off forehead*. Sorry for no pics. If you give me your Email Iwill send you some. Cause I havent taken any yet.

You need to find out if it really is an LT4 car, they are very very rare and worth some good money. Call SLP and give them the VIN, they can tell you all about the car.

There is a huge differance between LT1 and LT4. LT1 is a standard run of the mill motor for that car. LT4 is VERY special and rare.

The LT4 was 330 hp not the LT1. Your LT1 is rated at 305. Yes it's still nice, but I want the information on this site to be as accurite as possible, which is why I am correcting you.

1996 LT4
Engine : 5.7-liter MFI V8 LT4
Horsepower: 330@5800 rpm
Torque: 340 lbs.-ft.@4500 rpm
Block: Cast iron, 4-bolt mains
Crankshaft: Cast iron, undercut and rolled journal fillets
Pistons: Cast aluminum
Compression: 10.8:1
Cylinder heads: Aluminum, with 185cc intake port volume
Combustion chambers: 54.4cc
Valves: 1.94 intake/1.50 exhaust
Valve spring pressure: 100 lbs.
Rocker arms:1.5:1 adjustable, self-aligning, stamped steel
Camshaft: Roller
Lift: .447 intake/.459 exhaust
Duration: 202 intake/208 exhaust@.050-inch
Intake manifold: Aluminum, matched runners
Torsional Damper: Dual mass

In the Camaro and Firebird, the LT1 engine was rated at 275 hp (202 kW) and 325 ft·lbf (439 Nm) for the years 93-95. The rated factory horsepower of the LT1 in the Camaro and Firebird was largely underated, however. [citation needed] In addition, the poorly designed air intake and constricting headers and exhaust limited gross output. The F-Body was up to 285 hp (210 kW) and 335 ft·lbf (452 Nm) with this engine in the 1996-1997 model year with the addition of dual catalytic converters. In 1996-97 the SS/WS6 versions were rated at 305 hp, which was the true rating of all the models produced those years. The base versions were rated lower in an effort to help customers feel like they were getting more for their money, when in reality the only difference was a different intake that became heat-soaked on the SS and provided marginally cooler air on the WS6

*I forgot to add that there were only 106 LT4 Camaro's (6 went to Canada) and 29 Firehawks with the LT4. So you can see how they are so valuble.

But listen man. Mine is a SLP (Special Line Prodution). In the owners manual it says my car is an LT1 Moter 330HP. They only made a handful. It's also Hendix Edition.

As 02 said, SLP is Street Legal Performance, it the name of the company that GM contracted to produce the SS and Firehawks, Do a little research, you'll see what we are talking about.
