Hey guys, for those of you who have done it already....what are some things to be weary of when looking over a 69 Z28 RS/SS that would be needing restoration? Do you think their are any even left to restore? I'm looking to buy my first 69 as I've always loved that year and my goal before I die, is to purchase a 69. Any advise on how to get my hands on one as inexpensive as possible would be helpful. I guess if it wasn't an RS/SS I would still purchase it, but I'd make it look an RS. I just absolutely love the hideaway look. Thanks for all your help in advance.

You may find a 69 RS/ Z/28 and you may find a 69 RS/SS but you wont find a 69 RS/SS/ Z/28. SS and Z/28 was a performance package. RS was an appearance package. You could get the RS with both but not both performance packages. If you do find one you are interested in look at the trim tag. 69s manufactured after mid dec 68 will have a X code designation. X-33 for RS/Z-28 and X-77 for Z-28. You can start there.

yeah a z28 is big money for one with the original drivetrain in it. even a real z body is gonna be high and tracking a 302 down is tough. last time i saw a 69 302 for sale it was all apart and needed machine work and he wanted 7000 for it

Be VERY careful when shopping for a '69 Z/28. Do your homework and watch for fakes/tributes. There are a LOT out there. Key in on information regarding identifying real DZ 302 blocks, matching the numbers, fake vs real cowl tags, etc.
Also check the Carmaro Research Group, great info there. Camaro Research Group
Good luck! And be sure to let us know when you find your dream car!
