Does anyone know if this transmissions any good? I found a good deal on one in my area for $700 and was wondering if its worth it. Id really like to get an m22 but don't really have $2000 to fork out right now. Im putting out 600 horse and its gonna be used for street/strip. Thanks.

It's not the gears it's the coutershaft diameter and the case. I had a 68 Z28 and broke the case twice. The first case broke right behind the bell housing and the second case broke at the output shaft. They both broke at the drag strip during launch with DOT slicks. I was under the 600 hp mark for sure. I ditched it and bought a T-10 in the early 90's, sold the car in 07 with no issues. FWIW

M 20 and M21 are both good transmission but 600HP is going to be tuff for them to handle. I does kinda depend on your setup. High reving 600 HP it might could handle. Torque is what breaks stuff. Also if you have anything like a stock rear and street tire your never going to put all 600 HP to the road anyway. Engine create torque rear puts torque to the road. You tranny only needs to be as strong as the weakest of the two.

If you engine outputs 500 Ft lbs of torque but you rear and tires can only put 300 ft lbs to the road the tranny only need to be stronger then the 300 ft lbs.
