Moving battery to trunk compartment

Moving battery to trunk compartment
General question on moving the battery to the trunk compartment. What's the trick - how do you get enough power to the starter to turn the engine over? Seems like all that cable creates a whole lot more resistance. Does the battery have to be upgraded, or heavier duty cables, or both? What are the pros and cons? Thanks

I moved my battery to the trunk, there were no cons for me. The pro was having a less cluttered engine compartment. I also installed a remote starter solenoid on the inner fender to use as a junction point.

You should go for min 2/0 gauge (min 3/8 inch diameter conductor) and you can run cable over rear fender and through the channel under the door/carpet trim showing the Fisher emblem.
Tin both ends before adding terminals. The more strands the cable has, the better.

I did that at one time using a Chrysler Direct Connection kit. And with the voltage drop it killed both batteries and starters. So I would use such a system on a Drag race car ,Not on the street. Its too much of a pain.

I moved mine to the right side, just used the Summit kit. I grounded it to the body in the trunk and the engine would barely turn over. I added a jumper from the block to the fenderwell in the engine compartment, problem solved. I also upgraded to a top of the line AGM battery.
