Lowering Suspension on '69

I posted this question in the "Suspension" forum. I got a response from shnormo that 4" might be too much since his '79 is pretty low with a 2" drop. I'm looking for a drop that's practical; not any major mods. See below in italics:
I am interested in lowering my '69 camaro for road handling purposes. The front end of the car iscurrently disassembled down to a bare subframe . I purchased some 2" lowering coil springs from Hotchkis. I also want to change to disc brakes up front so I have the option in some of the kits to also use 2" lowering spindles. I currently have P235/15s but can change to something different. Is a 4" drop too far for this car? If 4" is too far, how about 3"? I thought maybe I could use rubber coil spring pads under the springs (about 1" thick) and also use the lowering spindles. Any comments on disc brake kits/systems would also be of interest.

I converted to disc on my '69 a few years back and used a kit from Classic Industries. It was a snap, everything went together like it should and it works real well.
As far as the height deal, I am no expert by any means and my stuff is all stock height. Having said that, 2" in suspension is about as far as I would go. You stated you want to keep it practical and that would certainly help in that regard. Beyond that, altering the ride height without altering the suspension geometry adversely is the main objective so make sure you get better advice than mine as to how best to achieve that.
