Intermittent Electrical Issus
I have a 67 Camaro RS with an odd electrical issue. Every once in a while the car will lose all electrical power. The car will just die, with no power to anything and after a minute or two it will just come back. I have replaced the horn relay twice thinking this was the problem. Anyone have any ideas or something similar? It is difficult to diagnose because it is just random when it happens.
Could be a number of things, but my wild guess could be a grounding or loose wire issue at the ignition. Specific temperatures and/or bumpy driving can change the connections if they are corroded. For a quick test (while car is on), simply jiggle wires behind the dash at the ignition and/or down at the fuse box and see what happens. Or drive and try to repeat the conditions and have a volt meter with you. When it happens, be ready to know what wires to test and track. Hope others can help more since electrical is not my specialty (that is if I have any at all
).
).
Tracked it down. There is a circuit breaker between the wire from the battery to the horn relay. Relay would get hot and kick off for a short time. Appears this is a relay on the 67 RS models only.
