Default Installing New SS Gas Cap

I went to a local car show and some nice person stole my gas cap. The cap that was on the car did not have the cable. The new cap has the cable with the nut and bolt on it. My question is how do I install the nut and bolt to the body? Do I need to drill a hole or remove a screw from the filler neck? If I remove a screw the bolt from the cap does not fit through the hole. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Remove the lower left fill neck bolt and drill it out the size of the one on the new cap cable

IMHO I would just cut the cable off as they tend to scratch paint around the fill neck

Thank you for the reply. Worked perfectly. I would have loved to leave the cable off but as I said someone stole the original at a car show so I had to use the wire on this one.

Thank you for the reply. I got it installed and I guess I wil have to be very careful with it. Unfortunately I live in NYC and if it is not nailed down it will be stolen so I have to use the wire

Can this style of cap be installed without the wire? I ran into the same issue, but I don't want to damage the paint with the wire.

Of course the wire is just there to retain the cap but if you ran in the same poroblem (stolen cap) where is the point not to use the wire.
This said, it's not the wire that damage the paint but the cap itself hanging around. You can just develop an habit to use a rag between the cap and the body. I will probably do it if I decide to repaint the whole rear plate. Not sure I want to do it for just a few scratches around the gas fill neck...

If you do not want to use the wire you have to cut it off . The wire is actually attached to the part that srews the cap on , so if you clip the wire and remove it you can simply use the cap without it.

The wire, not the cap, scratch the paint on the inner recess of the body panel. You can see in the pics of the "kinked" wire which is the primary cause

You're right but this is under the cap when it is in place so not of too much a concern. AS you can see on my pictures, the neck paint is not that much damaged beyond the screw heads marks.
The cap makes visible marks on the rear panel if not cushioned.
For safety (damage and thieves) the wire could be plastic covered or replaced with a synthetic material I think.
