I have a 69 camaro with 40 series flowmaster dual exhaust and headers but its 2 quiet
I just bought a 69 camaro with a 350. It has longtube headers and I just installed a 40 series flowmaster dual exhaust 2 days ago; however it is not really loud. My neighbors '70 chevy truck is much louder than my car and he only has cherry bombs with no headers and a stock engine. Does anyone know what the problem may be? How can I make my camaro louder? I thought the flowmaster exhaust would make my car rumble but it still sounds quiet for a muscle car. Please help!

Do you know what your 350 came out of? For all you know, it could be an anemic, low compression, low h.p., smog era engine. You may have to add some muscle to your engine to up the sound level.
And, what diameter pipes did you run btw?

I don't know what the 350 came out of. I bought the car from an old lady because it was her husband's car and he passed away, yet she didn't know much about it. What kind of parts do you think will make the most significant difference to add muscle?
The exhaust pipes are 2.5 inch diameter. Thanks for your help

That really can't be answered without knowing what you have now.
To determine what engine you have, go here and check the numbers on the block and heads: http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-ca...oding-help.asp
But, even running the numbers doesn't tell whether or not someone has been inside the engine before you and changing it from factory. What type of intake and carb do you have?

as Camaro 69 said, you might just have a weak engine so that could be your problem. I don't think anyone has EVER said that Flowmaster 40s are quiet...never mind including headers.
most of the time Flows are too loud for the cars. just because an exhaust is loud, doesn't mean it sounds good. an exhaust should compliment an engine not overpower it.
from what you're trying to describe, it sounds like you are looking for the V-8 equivalent of all the ricers with their fart-can mufflers. just a bunch of noise with no power behind it
