Default Hood Hinges

I was wondering if replacing the springs in the hood hinges will eliminate my problem.
When the hood is closed, the hood does not line up with the fenders (close to the windshield) unless you push down on the hood.
Any ideas?

I don't think the springs themselves are the problem...more of the entire mount needs adjusting/greasing.

I just had this problem on my 78. Was about to buy new hinges.

On the hood hinge where it bolts to the fender.
SLide the hinge all the way down on the back bolt,
and slide it all the way up on the front bolt.

I now it seems strange but try it.
Lift up on the front hood hinge bolt lets the back of the hood come down farther.

I have this same problem on my 67, it's on the driver's side hinge. I close the hood and the corner pops up 1/4 inch or so on the back driver's side of the hood. Like you I can push it down, but it's an ongoing irritating issue. I believe the springs are fine on mine, but I do suspect ovaling where the factory pivot arm attachments are located. I think the culprit is somewhere in the Rear Arm 2 rear arm plate attachment points.

The Hinge is comprised of 4 plates, the Mount plate, the Rear Arm, Front Arm and Connector. These Plates have a factory pressed cross-stamped fitting attaching the plates.
Look forward to hearing how you fix yours, a new Hinge Frame is on the proverbial list of parts I have to order next.

Good Luck!

I tried it and it worked like a charm! I thought I had tried it while I was trying to to adjust the hood, but I guess I didn't have the bolt loose enough when I pulled it up. Hood lines up perfectly now!

Appreciate it, thanks
