Hi I am looking at purchasing a 1st gen camaro, my question is this,
Is there a possibility that an engine with a MO number a month after the car is original?
I am looking at a 67 and the MO data is shown to be an engine a month after the trim tag date of assembly.
Thanks

The car is a Z/28, is it advertised as one?
Decode for Trim Tag:
06C = Built the Third week of June.
67-12637 = Custom Interior Coupe.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
742 = Custom Red Bucket Seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats (without headrests).
R-R = Car Color is Bolero Red
Options:
1W = (A02) Tinted W/S only
2L = (M21) 4-speed floor shifter
2G = (D55) Console front compartment
2S = (U73) Antenna Manual right rear
2R = (U80) Speaker rear
3S = (Z23) Interior Decor group
3K = (Z21) Deluxe exterior trim
4L = (Z28) 302
5Y = (A39) Belts All Deluxe
EDIT: The casting date on the 302 is June 30, so yeah, that's the funny part.
It's only about a week after the car was assembled though, not a month. Was there a strike somewhere?

I also tried to search any Norwood Oh newspapers in and around Sep 66 to July 67 and found nothing.

If the VIN's match, I think you would have a "right" car there.
Check the link below, and read the 4th bullet point in the part called "block dates". Your 67 falls within the one week time frame they describe. Also, a couple of the other bullet points are describing a difference between "body build date" and "vehicle assembly date", meaning the the entire car could have been assembled slightly later than normal, after the body was built. All this would make more sense of your engine date difference. Maybe the plant was waiting for a shipment of engines to come in? Don't forget, the Z/28 was not a commonly picked option, and 302's may not have been a plentiful "dime a dozen" engine, as the other small blocks were.
