And I'm glad you're not hung up on a numbers matching theme. I appreciate those cars, and understand them, but I prefer hotrods that have been personalized.
Thank you. I completely agree. I just don't like people that try to sell their opinion as fact.

Front has 18x8's with 235/40/18 4.5" bs

W. R., I like the way your car looks. The style of wheels goes well, but my tastes prefer the smaller diameter old school style wheel. That said, what you have still works, and obviously works for you (which is the only person who counts). Also, I don't see why that setup you have would hinder performance.

wasting...I like your dark tq thrust theme over shevro's but there's no way your going to be able to tuck a 275/40/18 under a 67' fender w/out rubbing something unless serious mods or maybe super low profile tires, possibly as high as a 35 but I doubt it. I hope you can prove me wrong.

Heres a couple of links '67's that have the same wheel and tire setup with a hotchkis lowering kit and no rubbing. I also found a table somewhere but I can't find it now, that showed the different maximum diameter/width wheels and tires with appropriate backspacing that would fit.

This link has a guy with them about halfway down the page or so.

the top link guy is using 18x8 front with 235/35/18 4.5in backspacing, front
the bot link guy is using 18x8 front with 235/40/18 4.5in backspacing, front. I doubt he has full clearance. Although Hochtcis may fit, if your using a standard sway bar in front, these too will rub when steering is turned all the way. My 225's on 4.5 back space barley miss it + the sub frame. If you use a smaller back space or spacers, 275/40/18 will stick out and hit the fender lip when you drive over a bump. I know you said you were away from the car, have you actually inspected your current set up under these perimeters?

No I haven't been able to inspect the car. I've been scouring other forums and articles about what wheel and tire setups will and will not fit. I'm finding more examples people saying that they don't have any problems with the same size wheels, tires, and backspacing as me, than I am of ones with clearance problems. There are a few that say they have a slight rub with the steering wheel fully locked, but every car is different. Some might rub, some might clear by a hair, and some might clear by a wide margin. I understand your concern but as I said, I've found plenty of people online that claim to have no clearance issues with the exact same setups. I don't plan on lowering it 3 inch either like some of the examples I've shown. I don't think Ill have any issues just dropping it 1.5-2"

Ok, let us know more when you do, here are some photos of my front wheel clearance.
tires: 225/60/15 = aprox 25" height x 9-1/8" width, rims: 15x7-4.5 BS.
You can see where the tire has rubbed the sway bar. Tires clear sub frame by about 1" at front and about 5/8" at the back side so I guess 235 wide may work if no taller minus the sway bar.

Your 235/35/18 tires are 24.5" tall, 9.3" wide, and a 3.3" sidewall.
Your rear 275/40/18 are 26.7" tall, 10.8" wide, and a 4.3" sidewall.
Hope this helps.

here's a link to a tire height chart.
TIre Height Chart

it lists a 235/40/18 as 25.40" which if perfectly back spaced may & I hope fits wastingrubber's car without any clearance issues. I thought he was trying to squeeze a 10.8" wide 275 in front...that's my bad.

Maggie, seems our two different tire chart sources differ in tire height. I suppose they each use a particular brand to get their info, which may account for the discrepencies.
